  • Hawdon Valley Area: The Hawdon River has moved in its riverbed and is currently flowing across the Mt White access road at the Mt White Bridge. Access is currently not possible to the Hawdon Shelter, Andrews Shelter or the Poulter Valley. The river is swift and currently too dangerous to cross on foot. Work is being done to reposition the river back to its normal channels.
  • Deception Valley: Extreme flooding has destroyed some track sections and created wash-outs on the Deception River route. River crossing positions have also changed. Care is required negotiating these washout areas, and selecting safe river crossing locations.
  • Kura Tawhiti / Castle Hill Rocks: Thieves are been breaking into cars and motor-homes at the Kura Tawhiti car-park on a regular basis. They have been targeting Asian tourists and stealing passports, credit cards and money. Take your absolute valuables with you on the walks, and don't leave other valuable items in plain sight in your vehicle. Report any suspicious activity to Police '111', and note down registration plates of vehicles!
  • Taipo River: The original cableway (Scotty's) in the lower Taipo River has been replaced with a 3-wire bridge. This bridge is quite high above the river and trampers using this part of the route should be quite confident at using this type of structure.
  • Casey Hut has burnt down - Casey Hut in the Poulter River catchment burnt down in late 2015. The next closest hut is Trust-Poulter, 5km upstream on the true-right. Good camping sites, water (Casey Stream) and a toilet remains at the old Casey Hut site.
  • The following bivouacs no longer exist! - Hallelujah Bivouac (Andrews Stream), Thompson Bivouac (Thompson Stream), Top Cox Bivouac (Cox River), Waterfall Bivouac (Row Stream)
